welcome

to a new way of understanding beauty

At Surface Tension Beauty, beauty is viewed as more than skin deep. It is influenced by stress, rest, emotion, routine, touch, and the way we move through the world. Through psych-informed massage, facial therapy, and beauty rituals, this is a space to slow down, reconnect, and support both skin and nervous system with care and intention.

Kirsten welcomes both neurotypical and neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD and Autism. As a former psychologist, she understands that comfort, communication, sensory preferences, and individual needs matter. Accommodations are not an afterthought—they are simply part of creating a supportive experience.

There is no expectation to "do relaxation" here. You don't need to keep your eyes closed, stay silent, stop fidgeting, or pretend to enjoy something that doesn't feel comfortable. You're welcome to chat, ask questions, move when you need to, or simply enjoy the treatment in whatever way feels right for you.

Because feeling safe, understood, and comfortable in your own skin is an important part of beauty too.

Balancing the Mind & Body

At Surface Tension Beauty, treatments are designed to offer something increasingly rare: the opportunity to slow down and pay attention to yourself.

Through massage, facial therapy, and beauty rituals, each session encourages moments of rest, awareness, and reconnection. Gentle, intentional touch invites the body to soften, creating space for comfort, calm, and renewal.

These treatments are not about fixing flaws or chasing perfection. They are about supporting the relationship between body, skin, and wellbeing.

Whether through the rhythmic flow of massage, the nurturing experience of a facial, or the simple ritual of dedicated self-care, the aim is the same: to create a restorative experience that leaves you feeling more grounded, refreshed, and connected to yourself.

Because beauty is not just about how we look.

It's also about how we feel beneath the surface.

Nervous System Reset Massage Therapy

Through massage, facial therapy, and beauty rituals, each experience creates space for comfort, awareness, and connection.

Some clients enjoy quiet stillness. Others enjoy a conversation. Many move between the two. There is no right way to experience a treatment here.

When the body feels supported and the nervous system has an opportunity to settle, subtle shifts often follow — a deeper breath, a softer jaw, a sense of ease, or simply the feeling of having nowhere else to be for a while.

Beauty, then, is not something to chase. It is something that emerges when we create space to rest, restore, and care for ourselves.

Each session becomes an opportunity to pause from the demands of daily life and reconnect with yourself — leaving you feeling refreshed, grounded, and supported beneath the surface.

Nervous System Reset Skin-focused Beauty Rituals

At Surface Tension Beauty, facial therapy is about more than caring for your skin.

The face carries much of our daily experience. We concentrate, express emotion, clench our jaw, furrow our brow, and spend much of our lives looking outward. A facial offers an opportunity to turn that attention inward for a while.

Through gentle cleansing, massage, masks, and skin-focused rituals, each treatment is designed to support both the health of your skin and your overall sense of wellbeing.

There is no expectation to switch off, be silent, or achieve perfect relaxation. You are welcome to chat, rest, or simply enjoy having someone care for you for an hour.

The result is often more than healthy-looking skin. Clients frequently leave feeling refreshed, lighter, and more connected to themselves.

Because sometimes caring for your face is also a way of caring for the person behind it.
